The day I retired I felt like a little kid on Christmas Day excitedly opening my gift. Retirement meant my days of clocking in at work were done and now my time was wide open to live my own adventure. I’m excited about my future and the plans I have and the things I want to accomplish.
The first thing you need to know about me, and one of the primary focuses of this blog, is that I will be splitting my time between two continents with a heavy dose of travelling in between. My residency and my primary home is in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The love of my life, Sanford, lives in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Now that I’m retired, I plan to be away from Canada six months of every year with Sanford either travelling or living in Australia. This blog will be one of my ways of communicating my adventures for my family and friends while with Sanford and a way for me to share more of my life with Sanford while in Canada.
The second thing you need to know about me is that I am on a personal journey of transformation. I have been severely obese since early childhood and the time has come for me to change that. I want my retirement years to be the healthiest years of my life. I am already on this road and as a matter of fact have already lost 100 pounds and working on losing the rest. Although I’m sure that sounds awesome, the bigger challenge is in keeping the weight off. Only 1% of all people who lose weight are able to maintain the loss. I plan to be part of the 1%. So I will be talking about the struggles and joys of this journey along the way.
There is lots more about me that will surface through the blog but travel and transformation will undoubtedly be the two overriding themes.
